The Impact You Will Have
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is hiring a Clinical Pharmacist in Eagan, MN to support pharmacy operations across Medicaid and Minnesota Senior Health Options (MSHO) benefits and supporting the Pharmacy Business segments. This position is responsible for providing hands-on support, consultation, technical and clinical expertise supporting the care management teams for the Medicaid and Minnesota Senior Health Options (MSHO) benefits and supporting the Pharmacy Business segments. This will include coordination of the clinical components of the pharmacy program and representing the Pharmacy department at various meetings and committees throughout the organization requiring clinical pharmacy expertise.
This role plays a critical role in supporting the strategic and operational objectives of the Pharmacy and Medical Management departments.
To be successful in this role, candidates must hold a PharmD or BS in Pharmacy and maintain an active Minnesota pharmacist license. Strong candidates will bring clinical expertise in managed care or PBM settings, a deep understanding of pharmacy benefits and utilization management, and the ability to navigate complex member cases with both strategic insight and compassion. Success in this role also requires excellent communication skills, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset to work across clinical and business teams.
Your Responsibilities
- Support the care management teams by representing the Medicaid and MSHO lines of business for the department with clinical pharmacy expertise and participate in case management Interdisciplinary Rounds.
- Review pharmacist consult cases and make therapeutic recommendations based on clinical data and research.
- Perform periodic outreach to providers and pharmacies.
- Collaborate with multiple areas within the organization including case managers.
- Provide consultative expertise and consultation for various internal areas/committees including pharmacy consults, Customer Service, appeals and/or Internal Review Organization.
- Provide consultation to health plan staff regarding appropriate benefit design, clinical outcomes, and cost issues.
- Support the pharmacy department on clinical pharmacy benefit inquiries and opportunities as needed throughout the organization.
- Maintain currency with clinical practice guidelines and drug pipeline.

- Work is performed in a hybrid office setting with flexibility for remote work.
- Some travel may be required within local market.

Required Skills & Experiences
- Clear and active Pharmacist license in the state of Minnesota.
- BS degree in Pharmacy or PharmD.
- 3+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
- 2 + years of relevant clinical experience in Health Plan/Prescription Benefit Management/Managed care, specifically medical benefit drug management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Superior analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong business acuity.
- Strong collaborative nature!
- Some travel is required in the local market.
- High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred or post graduate training, advanced training or clinical program completion.
- Experience and deep understanding of oncologic conditions and therapies.
- Experience in medical drug specialty.
- Medication Therapy Management experience.
Compensation and Benefits:
Pay Range: $115,000.00 - $155,300.00 - $195,600.00 Annual
Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
