How Is This Role Important to Our Work?

The Associate Financial Underwriter is responsible for reviewing, preparing and analyzing risk for renewals, proposals, and benefit changes. The underwriter is responsible for negotiation with sales or account management for final price and product configuration, support, documentation, and communication of the same.

A Day in the Life:

• Analyzes and evaluates existing and new business standard risk.
• Provides communication to internal customers on underwriting decisions.
• Develops and maintains documentation on underwriting processes and systems.
• Assists Underwriter and Senior Underwriter as requested.
• Completes special projects assigned by management.
• Keeps abreast of current underwriting practices, rating tools, industry changes and state and federal healthcare reform mandates.
• Provides assistance and work direction to Underwriting Support.

Required Skills and Experiences:

• 2+ years' related experience or Bachelor’s degree. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
• Working knowledge of underwriting guidelines, risk selection, industry practices.
• Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, Adobe and Access.
• Excellent analytic and problem solving skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
