The Impact You Will Have
As the Vice President of Pharmacy Solutions, you will be responsible for the strategic planning, development, and value of pharmacy solutions across all business lines, ensuring alignment with both divisional and enterprise strategies. The scope of this role includes accountabilities for strategic development, implementation, and management of the company’s pharmacy products and programs. They will partner closely with other health services leadership to ensure all of health services solutions are integrated and aligned to deliver on our mission of paving the way for everyone to affordably achieve their healthiest life. This position will also collaborate closely with the leadership of Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid to ensure they meet the unique health needs of their specific member populations and position us as a leader in delivering high value pharmacy solutions. This role also has accountability for oversight of Clearstone Solutions which provides solutions for government health plans particularly focused in the Part D space.
Your Responsibilities
Sets and drives the pharmacy solutions strategic mission, vision, and objectives considering member and stakeholder needs, legal and regulatory requirements, market analysis, and industry trends.
Leads drug management for Traditional as well as Medical drugs across the organization.
Leads the development, implementation, and operations of pharmacy solutions products and programs to ensure that everyone can affordably achieve their healthiest life, and that products and programs meet the needs of our internal and external stakeholders to ensure sustainable organizational growth.
Ensures all products and programs meet applicable regulatory and compliance standards and accreditation requirements.
Represents the division to a variety of external stakeholders including provider organizations, customers, advocacy groups and government entities.
Establish department goals and performance metrics that support the Health Services division and enterprise strategic plans. Ensures that the right systems, processes and measurement/reporting are in place to demonstrate the value and clinical effectiveness of Pharmacy Solutions products and programs to internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with Data & Analytics and Communications teams to develop and effectively communicate product and program value to internal and external stakeholders.
Partners closely with other health services leaders to ensure value delivery is optimized across departmental levers.
Collaborate with Sales and Account Management teams to support renewal, RFP, and new sales activities by providing consultation to ensure appropriate pharmacy benefit strategies are recommended, presented, and implemented.
Communicates clearly and persuasively to build support for initiatives, engaging both internal and external stakeholders.
Ensures clinical and management talent are in place to improve member health.
Serve as a role model and coach for ongoing leadership and staff development.
Enhance teamwork and collaboration across the enterprise.
Required Skills and Experience
Accepting this VP level position at BCBSMN requires signing an Employee Confidentiality, Intellectual Property Assignment and Restrictive Covenants Agreement as a condition of employment.
10+ years of management level experience in pharmacy/managed care with proven ability to successfully develop and execute a strategic vision.
Significant understanding of the pharmacy industry as well as the operations of a health plan, with practical knowledge of the inter-dependencies between key stakeholders and processes.
Deep understanding of clinical, operational, and regulatory pharmacy practices.
Thorough knowledge of PBM programs and practices.
Demonstrated track record of success in driving quality improvements and cost trend containment in a health plan (commercial and/or government lines of business) or in an integrated care delivery organization.
Demonstrated track record of success in driving quality improvements and cost trend containment in the pharmacy space
Experience creating and implementing plans and innovative and creative approaches to improve pharmaceutical delivery and quality, leveraging data to implement strategic programs and drive behavior change.
Ability to set strategy which supports enterprise goals and effectively organize staff and influence other leaders across the company to implement tactically and deliver results.
Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated by an ability to establish trust and credibility with internal and external stakeholders.
Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and oral.
Proficient in leading/facilitating group discussions and public speaking.
High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Post graduate education in Health Care Administration, Public Health, or an MBA.
Registered Pharmacist licensure is a plus but not required and will consider non-clinical candidates with significant pharmacy and managed care experience.
Compensation and Benefits:
Pay Range: $325,000.00 - $342,500.00 - $360,000.00 Annual
Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
