How is This Role Important to Our Work?
Reports to the Director of Public Relations & Internal Communications and serves as a key lead in the development and implementation of strategic internal communications that support the organization's goals and mission. Primary focus is messaging development across established and emerging lines of businesses and subsidiaries under the same parent company as Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota. Builds strategies and tactics that translate strategic initiatives to all levels of the organization in order to increase business acumen of the core insurance business, related business initiatives and the overall healthcare industry. The role works closely with teams from Public Relations, Strategy, Events, Marketing and Brand in providing shared service support to company leadership. Serves as a program lead in internal communication functions that promote overall associate engagement; advance thought leadership; and support strategic priorities. The position leads highly matrixed internal communications work that requires strong collaboration with multiple business partners throughout the company. Position also serves as a subject-matter expert on specific business areas and stakeholder audiences in advancement of overall enterprise strategy. Accountable for being able to provide reputation management counsel to Senior leadership and content creation at all levels.
Responsibilities:
Develops and delivers messages that align with the organization's values and goals, and targets specific audiences to influence their behaviors and perceptions
Provides strategic internal communications counsel that includes project management deliverables (content creation, timelines, activation goals) through effective brand journalism writing
Co-develops internal communications and content plans that focus on advancing goals and building internal communications capabilities, processes and content in assigned business areas
Reports to director of public relations and internal communications in coordination of matrixed communications strategies that enhance reputation, advance business objectives and reinforce company culture, mission and values
Ensures all communications objectives are achieved and that communications are consistent, well-executed and evaluated
Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with internal partners to collaborate on points of constructive collaboration and alignment
Effectively builds and manages relationships within the organization to achieve business objectives with internal communications and public relations support
Manages time and resources accurately and independently
Provides business and consumer-focused internal communications through strong writing skills that can synthesize complex information into impactful messages and narratives
Nice to Have:
Bachelor's degree
Communications experience within health industry
10+ years of comms experience with 3+ years of supporting senior executive teams and external stakeholders
Strategic communications experience, setting direction and making key decisions about what, when, and how to communicate for highest levels of business and business direction
Requirements and Experiences:
7+ years of related public relations and/or internal communications experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered
1+ years of staff, team lead, or project leadership experience
Experience utilizing strategic communication models of support with top-level executives and internal stakeholders
Exceptional collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively within a matrixed organizations
Demonstrable skills in writing strategic narratives. Proven ability to present complex business ideas, strategies and results succinctly and persuasively at a senior executive level
Highly effective writing skills and verbal presentation skills that drive impactful stakeholder action
Strong collaborator able to work well across teams
Effective presentation skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Compensation and Benefits:
Pay Range: $98,600.00 - $133,100.00 - $167,600.00 Annual
Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
