The Impact You Will Have

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of MN is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer in Eagan, MN. The Systems Engineer Senior is responsible for the execution of standards and guidelines that drive the design of technology solutions including implementing solutions requiring integration of multiple platforms, operating systems, servers and applications across the enterprise. Responsible for designing, developing, and implementing innovative technical solutions to address complex business challenges.  The Ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of system architecture, cloud platforms, RPA tools, and emerging technologies like AI. Responsible as an advanced technical resource in one or more critical services or technologies and applies comprehensive knowledge in one or more areas. May function in a Lead role.

You have 5+ years of system engineering experience with AI, RPA technologies, and AWS or Azure. You're skilled in scripting, tool building, cloud security, and network integration. You can analyze customer requirements and manage intake processes from start to finish, including documenting workflows and choosing technologies. You collaborate well with team members and stakeholders and can develop proof of concepts.

This role is hybrid, 2 days a week in office, out of Eagan, MN.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design and architect robust, scalable, and secure system solutions that align with business objectives and technical requirements

  • Lead the evaluation and selection of new technologies, tools, and platforms, including RPA and AI, to improve IT infrastructure and user experience.

  • Develop and implement complex systems integrations, ensuring seamless connectivity between different platforms and applications

  • Conducts detailed analysis and study of customer requirements for new or existing projects to determine feasibility, cost and time required, and compatibility with current systems and hardware capabilities.

  • Create detailed system specifications and technical documentation for both existing and new systems.

  • Develops moderate to highly complex infrastructure interactions to ensure the security, stability, recoverability, and access to systems and information.

  • Develop and execute automation strategies to improve efficiency and reduce manual processes

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system designs meet business needs and comply with industry standards

  • Advises on enterprise-wide infrastructure systems growth requirements, capabilities, and constraints to ensure the long-term functionality and operation standards.

  • Participates in the RFP process to evaluate and select vendor solutions.

  • Oversees and evaluates the work of contractors and vendors to ensure quality services.

  • Participates in or leads cross-functional initiatives on the development and implementation of enterprise-wide major installations, upgrades and process changes.

  • Facilitates knowledge sharing by creating and maintaining detailed, comprehensive documentation and diagrams.

  • Tracks industry trends and maintains knowledge of new technologies to better serve the enterprise architecture needs.

  • Performs systems support activities and may include required participation in an on-call rotation for support of systems outside of normal business hours.

  • Assists manager in facilitating goal accomplishment by providing work direction to assigned employees and by monitoring the status of work daily.

  • Clarifies roles and responsibilities of assigned employees based on direction from the manager.

  • Shares feedback with the manager as requested or deemedappropriate and may make recommendations for performance reviews.

Required Skills and Experiences

  • High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.

  • 5+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.

  • Cloud Service Provider Certification (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, etc.) – required within 1 year of employment

  • Advanced level knowledge of infrastructure design, implementation, administration, planning, developing.

  • Advanced level knowledge of technical, business, and industry.

  • Very strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Very strong human relations skills to effectively interact with leadership and management, peers, business partners and vendors.

  • Highly skilled at systems, creative, critical and analytical thinking, decision making and problem solving.

  • Advanced or specialized understanding of the standards and deliverables to ensure integrity of the systems engineering process.

  • Advanced level knowledge of internal area applications.

  • Advanced level skills at hands-on communication, collaboration and leadership.

  • Highly skilled at influencing and motivating individuals and teams.

Preferred Skills and Experiences

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • Hands-on experience with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) – Automation Anywhere, Power Automate and AI technology – strongly preferred

  • Knowledge of the health care/health insurance industry

  • Experience with agile, DevOps, IT Service Management, and other development and support processes and methodologies.

  • Extensive experience in prototype design and implementation. Proficient in collaborating with vendors.

  • Advanced knowledge of multiple business areas.

  • Familiarity with security measures and protocols to protect systems and data.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence, motivate and lead teams with diverse cultural and professional background.

  • Experience in mentoring and coaching junior developers in problem solving and critical thinking efforts.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $100,000.00 - $135,000.00 - $170,000.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
