The Impact You Will Have

This position uses complex data to uncover actionable insights for strategic decision-making at Blue Cross. The incumbent works both independently and as part of a team to plan, initiate and occasionally lead analysis projects from concept through implementation. Responsibilities include data analysis, writing SQL code, building automated reports and dashboards using cloud-based tools such as Databricks and Power BI, and building and maintaining lightweight data applications for internal users (for example, business calculators, simple forms, and data maintenance tools). Business data knowledge and programming skills will be leveraged.

Your Responsibilities

  • As part of a team, maintain small, internal-only applications using cloud-based architecture, and support and/or migrate legacy tools from on-premises environments.
  • Serve as a data and analytical consultant for key internal stakeholders.
  • Develop meaningful reporting programs using a variety of reporting and analytic tools, integrating multiple data sources.
  • Assist co-workers in using data and information in new and innovative ways.
  • Interact with varying levels of leadership, including executives, to present information and provide suggestions for improving internal enterprise data sources.
  • Mentor people across the organization on data sources, how to access them, and which sources are best suited to meet specific data needs.
  • Partner with internal customers to define business requirements at a granular level, including understanding the underlying business question, and provide optimal data and reporting solutions.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of Blue Cross legacy and contemporary data sources.
  • Proven experience in working with customers across the enterprise to understand business questions and to develop reporting and analytical solutions in support of those questions.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, evaluate and interpret complex data sets.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to present complex technical information to non-technical audiences and executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting with individuals having diverse professional backgrounds including business, technical and /or clinical.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access.
  • High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Strong experience with enterprise reporting, dashboarding, and visualization tools (such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar), including supporting business users with reliable, well‑governed analytics.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including the ability to write complex queries across multiple data sources, apply business logic, and troubleshoot data quality and tune queries.
  • Experience working with modern data platforms and cloud‑based analytics environments (such as Databricks, Snowflake, or similar), with an understanding of how curated datasets are developed and consumed.
  • Hands‑on experience building or supporting data pipelines and/or lightweight data applications, including the use of Python or other scripting languages to validate inputs, apply business rules, or persist data changes.
  • Ability to support legacy applications using VB.NET and object-oriented programming principles.
  • Familiarity with version‑controlled development practices and common testing patterns.
  • Comfort collaborating with data engineering, platform, and governance teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions for internal business users.
  • Interest in evolving beyond traditional reporting toward building interactive, data‑driven tools and internal applications that support operational and decision‑making workflows.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $90,800.00 - $120,300.00 - $149,800.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.

We come together in the office two days each week – most teams designate at least one anchor day to ensure team interaction. These in-person moments foster relationships, creativity, and alignment.
