The Impact You Will Have


Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our team in Eagan, MN, supporting the Coupe business unit. This role is integral to core financial operations, including month-end close, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. The Financial Analyst will provide critical insights through financial analysis, trend evaluation, and variance analysis. Responsibilities also include developing analytical models, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving process improvements. This position serves as a key financial resource, helping to inform strategic decisions and ensure accurate, actionable reporting.

The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of professional experience in finance or accounting and is comfortable with tasks such as managing funding requests, journal entries/closing books, and creating monthly and ad hoc reporting for management. They have strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of financial reporting and accounting processes. Experience with general ledger systems, financial planning tools, Microsoft Excel and cross-functional collaboration is highly valued.


Your Responsibilities

  • Analyzes financial results, trends, performance metrics and provides root cause analysis to support business decisions.
  • Analyze and report on key drivers of revenue and expense forecasting and other financial data, draw conclusions and present recommendations on findings.
  • Perform detailed variance analysis by line of business, company and within divisions against budget, forecast, prior periods, or other benchmarks.
  • Maintains and/or assists with development of analytical models for margin analysis, volume/price mix, operational/vendor analysis, forecasting models and other projects as assigned.
  • Assists with the development and preparation of the annual budget and forecasts.
  • Identify, analyze and recommend process improvements and other ad hoc analysis.
  • Navigate through various systems and departments to obtain accurate information to be utilized in the budget, forecasting and other ad hoc analysis/projects.
  • Maintain/prepare operational analytical reports related to resource capacity planning, capital, non-operating activities and expenses.
  • In conjunction with manager, foster relationships with business owners and be a resource on financial issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experiences

  • 2+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
  • Skills/Abilities: Strong communication, analytical skills, problem resolution, organization skills, and proficiency in MS office applications.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment, manage multiple tasks and ability to shift gears and priorities.
  • High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Skills and Experiences

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Healthcare Industry background.
  • Experience with general ledger systems.
  • Experience with financial planning tools.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $67,200.00 - $89,100.00 - $111,000.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
