Description Summary

The position directs and provides analyses, development of management reporting and other ad hoc financial analysis for Health and Network Management. The incumbent provides in depth knowledge of current health care payment methodology, understand population stratification methods and population risk adjustment. This position manages complex data and information to provide meaningful results, identifying success factors and improvement opportunities, suggesting potential solutions, and helping both internal and external customers set strategic directions. They may also lead project teams. The incumbent will lead efforts to define meaningful contributions that will influence strategic decision-making at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota.


Accountabilities


  1. Independently identify, analyze and report on key drivers of healthcare costs financial data, draw conclusions and present recommendations on findings in a concise and effective manner.

  2. Lead and develop complex population analysis, working with cross-functional teams and presenting to Blue Cross and provider partner leadership.

  3. Leads team(s) to develop measurement plans, analyze data, and report results on health care utilization, expenditures, outcomes, and benchmarks.

  4. Represents the division on corporate projects and may have leadership roles on these teams.

  5. Independently manages the retrieval and analysis of data, and issues that may arise on multiple tasks or projects with little or no management involvement.

  6. Serves as a measurement or analytic consultant who can explain complex measurement or analysis techniques and results in layman’s terms.

  7. Participates in contract negotiations as a knowledge expert on provider payments as necessary.

  8. Mentoring, oversight and delegation of work to junior staff.


Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related fields and 8 years of relevant experience, or 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree. 

  • Extensive Knowledge of healthcare payment methodologies. 

  • Skills/Abilities: Strong communication, excellent organization skills, MS office applications experience, excellent analytical skills, strong problem resolution skills, and ability to adapt to a changing environment and work independently.


Preferred Requirements


  • Master’s Degree in Business, or a related field, and 7 years of relevant experience in a health plan or provider setting.
