The Impact You Will Have

Retains and expands FEP membership by establishing relationships with federal employees, federal agencies (Health Benefit Officers[HBO]) and federal employee groups (unions, etc). Establish regular, continuous federal agency visits to provide member services as requested and needed. Balances requests with FEP business objectives and compliance requirements. Directs the annual open season effort including scheduling HBO visits, open season health fairs, and federal affiliated employee group meetings. Maintains compliance with FEP reporting requirements and participates on FEP advisory groups as invited or directed.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance relationships with federal agencies and HBOs, and serve as the primary liaison to the agencies, to ensure maximum access to the various federal agency locations, employees and employee groups.
  • Coordinates all open season activities including managing contracted staff, approving the schedule for health fairs and HBO seminars, and other administrative activities in assigned geographic area.
  • Works with the member and various BCBSMN departments as needed to resolve member issues (most often including customer service, claims, and health management).
  • Works with various internal teams to prepare and give presentations to the HBOs, employee retirement groups, and others as requested.
  • Supports FEP goals for member engagement. Persuasively present the benefits of FEP products to HBOs, federal employees, and employee groups.
  • Manage annual work plan to maintain ongoing relationships, build new relationships, and drive membership growth.

Required Skills and Experiences

  • 3+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
  • Persuasive oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal assistance to schedule annual work plan, organizing sales activities, and set appropriate priorities.
  • Ability to proactively identify and resolve problems.
  • Organized with a track record of delivering a high level of member service in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to approach tasks with sense of urgency.
  • Effective computer skills and ability to use Microsoft products as well as knowledge of Apple devices and related applications.
  • Existing relationships with internal BCBSM staff & ability to excel in a matrixed environment.
  • Currently possesses or will acquire a Minnesota insurance sales license within 90 days of starting the position.
  • Must be able to travel throughout Minnesota as well as to regular FEP meetings held throughout the United States.
  • Travel: Approximately 50% (to include overnight travel) with extensive work day travel to federal agencies.
  • Required to have and maintain a valid driver's license and auto insurance or access to reliable transportation.

Preferred Skills and Experiences

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Health insurance sales experience, preferably in the Federal employee market.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $60,000.00 - $77,600.00 - $95,200.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
