How is this role important to our work?

As the Transformation Portfolio Director, you will be responsible for helping to create and implement Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota’s vision and direction for becoming a product led organization with agile ways of working. This includes working with executives and cross-functional teams, driving working sessions, and supporting the organization to develop and optimize product development practices to ensure the organization remains agile and competitive. You will support the rollout and adoption of Portfolio concepts, principles, and practices to the organization. You will align strategy with execution and collaborate across silos to empower teams and organize around value.  Most importantly, you will drive a culture of continuous improvement and create an inspiring environment for the teams.

A Day in the Life:

• Develop and support organizational strategy, intake, and demand management for investable product structure.  

• Support connecting strategy to execution and orchestrate a story to leaders of value the organization is delivering (based on metrics and OKRs).

• Responsible for identifying work sequencing blockers impacting capacity across our product structure.

• Create strategy around funding products and value output.

• Help establish Quarterly Business Reviews that highlight value delivered against financial investment.

• Develop educational workshops and content on best product intake and measurement practices.

• Conduct training and/or workshop sessions to produce decisions and/or outcomes.

• Outline a detailed lean-portfolio strategy integrated into our product strategy.

• Identify and create plans to address skill gaps to provide enterprise view on value results.

• Work alongside portfolio and product teams while coaching the organization in lean portfolio management/agile ways of working @ scale.

• Act as a product and agile evangelist and represent the company at public events.

Nice to Have:

• Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

• Previous consulting experience a plus.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 7+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.

• Previous experience with organization changes and/or transformations (i.e., Agile and/or Product)

• Previous experience with Agile scaling frameworks (i.e., SAFe, Less, Discipline Agile, etc.)

• Practical experience with tools that support portfolio management.

• Previous experience in a lean-portfolio management role

• Proven product development ability

• Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills.

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Exceptional written and verbal communication

• Exceptional leadership skills
