How Is This Role Important to Our Work?
This position has accountability for the sales operations team that works with Blue Cross commercial accounts including small, and middle market accounts in Minnesota. Manages 2-99 business initiatives on behalf of the customer groups such as training, implementation, and the ongoing efforts to keep the product moving within the organization. The incumbent is also responsible for the identification and deployment of process improvement efforts across small group and middle market segments, and providing leadership to ensure successful execution of initiatives identified in the strategic business plan.
A Day in the Life:
- Directs sales account specialist staff on implementation of overall account support under the guidance of their manager.
- Is responsible for proper servicing of these accounts to ensure satisfaction, efficient and effective performance, and retention of business.
- Builds relationships and consults effectively with leadership across the Blue Cross organization, and the customer organization where appropriate, to help ensure business requirements are defined and expectations are properly set to enhance client satisfaction and resulting revenue and growth.
- Initiates, leads and/or participates as a subject matter expert in cross-functional projects at both an enterprise and market segment level to ensure product or service design, implementation, and performance improvements.
- Assumes accountability for raising awareness of, preventing and reducing error prone processes.
- Leads initiatives to develop and deploy enhanced practice processes, technology, training, and templates to improve the quality and effectiveness of operations account management performance for segments as requested.
- Directs action as needed to mitigate the company’s financial exposure through process improvement efforts.
- Hires, coaches, and motivates staff to achieve elevated performance standards.
- Provides ad hoc support in performing the Account Specialist role as needed, including consultation on client-specific materials, travel in support of client or member meetings or other tactical needs to support account specialist efforts in achieving client requirements.
Nice to Have:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree.
- Prior account management, sales, or sales support experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience or supervisory experience.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Access, Visio).
Required Skills and Experiences:
- Possess and maintain a valid MN Resident Producer License in the lines of Life & Health/ Accident in good standing within 60 days of employment.
- 3+ years’ professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.
- 1 year of supervisory, team lead, project lead and/or mentoring experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational skills, use of good judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to research, analyze, problem solve and resolve complex issues as evidenced by maintaining high quality standards with minimal or no supervision/oversight.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to express complex concepts in lay terms.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to learn and present new concepts, and possession of problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with multiple PC based software applications and systems.
- Adaptable and flexible with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of state and/or federal regulatory policies and a variety of health plan products.
