The Impact You Will Have

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota is seeking a strategic, data-driven Senior Marketing Strategist to lead and execute high-impact marketing initiatives for our Medicare line of business. This role is ideal for a self-starter with deep experience in B2C/DTC marketing, who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about driving growth through innovative, omni-channel campaigns.

As a key member of our Government Markets team,  you’ll collaborate with Sales, Product, and P&L leaders to transform strategic business objectives into impactful marketing initiatives and go-to-market strategies. You’ll spearhead integrated campaigns spanning TV, digital advertising, email, print, and beyond—leveraging data-driven insights, market trends, and rigorous testing to drive continuous performance improvement.

You’ll own the messaging strategy, develop creative briefs, manage agency relationships, and guide projects from concept to launch. Your ability to influence cross-functional teams, drive lead generation, and measure ROI will be critical to success. This role also plays a leadership part in fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and customer-centricity, helping elevate the Blue Cross brand and impact in the Medicare space.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develops and owns marketing plans for winning go-to-market strategies for Government Markets - Medicare.

  • Collaborates with sales and product divisions on ongoing development of product and sales strategies.

  • Develops reporting and utilizes data for insights. Continuously tests, learns and looks for new and better ways to accomplish goals.

  • Executes implementation of marketing and communications plans and projects, providing updates to project team and business partners on an on-going basis.

  • Supports measurement and evaluation of effectiveness for product and segment marketing programs including acquisition and retention metrics and ROI.

  • Coordinates internal resources for production, creative and other support, as well as external vendors and other business partners as needed to develop and implement marketing plans.

  • Program manager for acquisition and retention strategies. Takes a leadership role on working teams as needed.

  • Helps build a culture of collaboration, innovation, ownership and putting the customer first.

Required Skills and Experiences

  • 5+ years of related professional experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered.

  • Demonstrated experience developing both B2C / DTC acquisition and retention marketing strategies.

  • Strong knowledge of traditional and digital marketing practices, with a digital-first mindset.

  • Project management skills for leading multi-faceted programs; proven collaborator with ability to lead cross-functional teams.

  • Proven collaborator with ability to lead cross-functional teams.

  • Experienceperformance analytics and reporting,leveraging data for insights, and data-driven storytelling.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Traits of successful candidate: Curiosity, customer-focused, relationship-builder, resourceful.

  • High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Preferred Skills and Experiences

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Proven experience with B2C / DTC marketing, lead generation, and tradition and digital marketing; track record of successfully developing and executing marketing strategy deliverables and omni-channel campaigns.

  • Expert knowledge in the areas of marketing strategy, customer engagement, digital and traditional advertising, product promotion, sales channels, and marketing measurement.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate communications and creative concepts against business objectives, providing constructive and specific direction for briefs and revisions.

  • Excellent verbal and written business communication skills, including the ability to simplify and summarize complex information, and create and deliver professional presentations to senior leadership and external audiences.

  • Creative agency experience.

  • Preferred, but not required:Health plan experience.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $77,200.00 - $102,300.00 - $127,400.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.

We come together in the office two days a week—one designated anchor day with your team, and one day of your choosing. These in-person moments foster relationships, creativity, and alignment. The rest of the week you are empowered to work remote.
