Description Summary

This position is responsible for developing and implementing Blue Cross’ corporate brand and creative strategy for external facing and internal initiatives. This position reports to the Sr Dir of Marketing and partners with internal and external stakeholders that includes vendor oversight. This position will lead the Brand and Creative team. This position will create and lead the execution of applicable internal and external marketing campaigns / strategic initiatives and marketing experiences through multiple channels. This position is responsible for managing within defined budget parameters.


Accountabilities


  1. Strategically align and execute on creative projects, social media and experience design, events and community engagement efforts, providing updates to segment teams and business partners on an on-going basis. Identify barriers and problem solve for critical corporate and segment issues.

  2. Develop, advocate and drive implementation of specific value proposition and customer experiences across all segments and channels, in partnership with Marketing Segment Leader (B2B / B2C) to increase acquisition and penetration of accounts and generate revenue

  3. Develop and execute on the annual advertising strategies and manage agencies in researching, developing, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of brand and product advertising programs.

  4. Collaborate with internal stakeholders in the establishment and implementation of corporate communication and Brand.

  5. Lead implementation of strategies for B2B and B2C segment opportunities and approaches to ensure growth and brand position across all segments.

  6. Advise on business planning and marketing support mechanisms across all product segments, including leadership and management thru Marketing Operations (system recommendations / management), while delivering within budget.

  7. Responsible for corporate marketing budget with respect to pre-defined scope and priority established by the business. Ensures that budget aligns with marketing plan and funds are allocated appropriately to meet [enrollment / engagement] goals

  8. Communicate creative and brand strategies and tactics to senior cross functional leadership and business partners at all levels.

  9. Evaluate effectiveness of branding strategies and tactics and share results to assist in shaping future efforts.

  10. Collaborate with market research to develop and execute the research, analysis, and monitoring of financial, technological, and demographic factors to ensure market opportunities are capitalized on and the effects of competitive activity are minimized, relative to brand message and position. 

  11. Manage the department including interviewing and hiring employees following required EEO and Affirmative Action guidelines and ensuring employees receive the proper training. Conducts performance evaluation, and is responsible for managing employees, including skill and career development, policy administration, coaching on performance management and behavior, employee relations and cost control.


Requirements


  • Accepting this director level position at BCBSMN requires signing an Agreement Regarding Non-Disclosure of Confidential Information and Non-Competition as a condition of employment. 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of related work experience or 11 years of relevant experience.

  • 3 years of direct management experience. 

  • Demonstrated ability to create and evaluate communications and creative concepts against business objectives, providing constructive and specific direction for changes or edits.

  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills for managing staff, working with business partners, distribution channels, customers and vendors, leading cross-functional teams and making formal presentations

  • Experience working in a large matrix management organization

  • Ability to understand and utilize relevant market research and financial information related to product lines. ·

  • Advanced organizational leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated previous brand management experience. · Knowledge and best-practice awareness in the areas of business strategy, brand, web development/usability, events planning, customer experience market and client relationship management.

  • Proficient strategic planning skills

  • Excellent, proven track record of successfully developing and executing on branding and customer experience plans.

  • Demonstrated skills as an effective internal/external consultant.

  • Excellent project and time management skills for juggling many changing priorities and working under tight deadlines in coordination with staff / team.

  • Demonstrated effective negotiation and presentation skills

  • Strong critical and systems thinking skills

  • Demonstrated personal computer skills in the use of a suite of software tools (such as Flash, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and project management tools.


Preferred Requirements


  • Master's degree

  • Experience in MN market

  • Relevant health plan experience

  • Thorough understanding of health insurance business, the market environment and communications trends and measurement
