Description Summary

The Clinical Product Manager in this role is accountable for the clinical suite of products and services including, but not limited to, Utilization Management, Wellness, Case and Disease Management.  As the business owner for this product you will lead the strategic direction, including design and execution, of the clinical care models that span across the healthcare continuum.     Integral to the role is working with cross-functional teams to engage in marketing, forecasting and profit and loss projects to deliver a successful, differentiated product.  This role partners closely with the Medical Policy Value and Implementation team, Care Management Operations and Compliance to implement care model strategies, ensure ongoing efficiencies and compliance.


Accountabilities


  1. Overall accountability for oversight and performance of clinical care models.

  2. Monitors, manages and influences the clinical product profit and loss.

  3. With matrixed support from other departments this position leads the segmented alignment of clinical products, product strategy, marketing strategy, value proposition and potentially vendor selection.

  4. Coordinates with Care Management Operations to develop and enhance new and existing clinical care model to ensure ongoing value and market differentiation.

  5. Leads the coordination of clinical product return on investment (ROI) and works with Health Economics, actuarial and finance to monitor and update product pricing.

  6. Performs research to identify enhancement, member experience improvement, and new opportunities in care model strategy.

  7. Champions critical business needs with the operating model team to ensure new and existing products meet system requirements with strong support from technical program managers.

  8. Provides consultation as a subject matter expert as needed to all stakeholders, both internal and external. This includes, but not limited to, discussion with the Blue Cross Association, RFP responses, client meetings, conferences, sales training, executive leadership and internal department requests.

  9. Manages the development, improvement and maintenance of a care-model dashboard, reporting and a comprehensive measurement plan for Care Management clinical programs.


Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in product management and/or program management and 3 years’ experience or 7 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree.  

  • 7 years’ relevant experience including a minimum of 3 years direct experience in HMO’s.

  • Ability to analyze data and feedback to transform information into program strategies.

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, adapting approach as needed.

  • Experience in clinical care model strategy development, project management, and quality or process improvement.

  • Strong financial acumen and presentation skills to a variety of audiences. 

  • Demonstrated accountability and aptitude in leading strategic initiatives with effective interpersonal skills to collaborate and successfully work through a complex organization to influence change. 

  • Proven ability to exercise good judgment and make independent decisions. 

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and drive for clarity with a sense of urgency.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.  

  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly and convincingly.


Preferred Requirements


  • Experience managing to a profit and loss statement.

  • Master's degree in healthcare related field, project management, product management, business administration or related field.

  • Leadership roles in product management, health care delivery/operations.
