Description Summary

This position is responsible for supporting Drug Management and other clinical programs working with the Pharmacy/Care Management Departments to provide hands-on support, consultation, technical and clinical expertise. This will include coordination and design of the clinical components of the pharmacy program within Care Management.  This role plays a critical role in supporting the strategic and operational objectives of the Pharmacy and Medical/Care Management Departments.


Accountabilities


  1. Support the Pharmacy Leadership in representing the department on clinical pharmacy issues as needed throughout the organization.

  2. Pharmacy ownership and leadership of Pharmacy Clinical Team (PCT) process and meetings.

  3. Provide clinical response to organizational pharmacy inquiries (clinical criteria, manage triage, etc.).

  4. Provide consultative clinical expertise for various internal areas/committees including Customer Service and appeals.

  5. Focus on new Utilization Management analysis and evaluate clinical programs.

  6. Clinical support of formularies, programs, capabilities and benefits.

  7. Clinical support of state and federal mandates.

  8. Clinical support of enhanced Specialty programs.

  9. Review pharmacist consult cases and make therapeutic recommendations based on clinical data and research.

  10. Provide consultation to members, employer groups, and/or health plan staff regarding appropriate benefit design, clinical outcomes, and cost issues.

  11. Maintain currency with Clinical Practice Guidelines and Drug Pipeline.

  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Work is performed in an office setting.

  • In-state and out-of-state travel occasionally required.

  • Required travel between Eagan campus building locations.


Requirements


  • Clear and active Pharmacist license in the state of Minnesota.

  • BS degree in Pharmacy or PharmD.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong business acumen.

  • Proficient and confident conducting discussions in front of large and small groups.


Preferred Requirements


  • Master’s degree preferred or post graduate training, advanced training or clinical program completion.

  • 5 years of relevant clinical experience in Health Plan/Prescription Benefit Management/Managed care.

  • Experience and deep understanding of Oncologic conditions and therapies.

  • Experience in Medical Drug Specialty.
